The IBCM conferences can be traced to discussion in the edges of the Lausanne II conference in Manila in 1989 and at a seminar on Brethren history at Regent’s College, Vancouver, Canada in 1990. The first IBCM conference was held at Singapore in 1993 and the second at Ostia, nr. Rome, Italy in 1996.
